Terrorism, Security, The Indonesian GovernmentAbstract
Various terrorist incidents have occurred in the world, including in Indonesia. These terrorist incidents have disturbed and caused fear in society. In the last four years, there have been incidents of terrorism involving Indonesian citizens and international terrorism networks, both in Indonesia and abroad. Indonesia has taken steps to eradicate terrorism. This research discusses the efforts conducted by the Indonesian Government in handling terrorism. The study also identifies steps that the Indonesian Government needs to take to strengthen efforts to combat terrorism in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The Indonesian Government has made efforts to eradicate terrorism by combining both hard and soft approaches. These efforts have succeeded in reducing terrorist attacks in Indonesia by up to 56 percent. However, various efforts to eradicate terrorism must still be increased to create peace and security in society. The Indonesian Government must continue to be vigilant because the spread of radicalism continues to be carried out by terrorist network groups, which are currently also targeting vulnerable groups such as children, teenagers, and women.
