Abstract

Border areas in general face various problems in isolation and the high price of goods and services. National Cross-border Post (PLBN) is one of the real implementations as one of the developments to overcome this problem. The problem in question is to improve the economy of a border area, make price competition more competitive and drive the people's economy. However, the existence of a port raises public concern, especially for tauke, fishermen and traders due to the interaction between these networks. The purpose of this research is to find out how the community is worried about the existence of the National Cross Border Post (PLBN) port on Serasan Island, Tanjung Setelung Village. The theory used is the theory of symbolic interaction, through the concepts of mind, self, and society. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with as many as 10 informants and uses data collection techniques and tools in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study found that people's concerns were in the process of symbolic interaction in 3 stages, namely mind, self, and society. Where in the beginning the development of the National Cross Border Post (PLBN) port considered its presence on Serasan Island to be a form of concern from the central government, increasing the security of border areas, but in reality the community complained about the presence of the port which was considered to be more of an obstacle to their activities due to regulations related to with activities that will limit the space for people to carry out activities across national borders. In addition, the evictions carried out by the government were the houses of residents who were affected by the land for the construction of the National Cross Border Post (PLBN) port and the social networks in the Tanjung Setelung Village community were also affected.
